Introducing: Gift Wrap

Hi everyone!

Just a little shop update for you! This weekend I’ve been busy working on my new gift wrap options!

Customers are often asking me to add a personalised note or to “make it special” as it is a gift for someone. My items are usually placed in a cellophane packet within an organza gift bag. They’re then posted in a bubble mailer with a thank you note.

I actually got a 3 star review from someone that said “Packaging could have been better.” He was right. There were no “better” options for my customers. The standard is kept simple and affordable to appeal to those who just want something for themselves. I’ve itched my brain over it and with help from other Etsy sellers from Etsy Sellers UK Networking Group, (especially Anne-Marie from Handmade With Love Designs) I’ve come up with these 4 options (click to see larger!):

They come in this cute little box with the shop’s logo on the top!DSCN3910

I actually bought the stickers from a brilliant independent shop owner! Jen from!

I told her the sentiments I wanted for my stickers and she talked me through the design process. I chose their size, fonts, colours and whether they had borders on. A few days after I’d placed my order I asked about logo stickers and she added it to my order and I’m REALLY pleased with how they turned out! I’ll be using JensLittleT for all my sticker needs for the business from now on!

The labels on the inside I created myself, I want people to be able to personalise them so I thought it best to be able to make them on the spot without having to order them in.

The gift wrap options get the following treatment:

Item is placed in a cellophane packet with care instructions > Item is placed in an organza bag > Item is wrapped in themed tissue paper> Item is wrapped with curling ribbon>  Sentiment sticker is added > Matching confetti is sprinkled inside the box> Gift label is added and personalised > Bubble wrap is added to make sure the items are protected in transit> The box is closed and a logo sticker is placed on the lid.

For this service I will be charging £2.50 and you can have up to 3 items wrapped in the tissue paper parcel at once. Larger orders may require more than one box or one bigger box which I can look into upon request. They have been added to the Gift Wrap And Add Ons section of my shop!

To my customers: They are really lovely if you’d like to impress someone with the wow factor when you send them a gift!

To other sellers: Why not step up your game and add gift wrap options to your shop (if you haven’t already!) If you’re not sure why not just try a Christmas option with the season approaching?

Hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend 🙂

An Awesome Gift For You and Your Coffee Bestie

I ordered these coffee charms in ages ago. It felt like forever whilst they came from overseas! It took just over 3 weeks.

They’ve finally arrived and they look so cool! I already knew what I wanted to do with them and today I brought my vision to life!

I wanted to create something personal with these charms, a cute gift you can give to someone to show you pay attention! If you’re regularly going for coffee with your best friend you probably know what their brain juice of choice is! I will be taking custom orders so you can tell me the name you want on the card followed by the coffee! Even if it’s really long …like a grande caffe mocha, no sugar, no whipped cream, extra dry, with half skim, half full milk.  -I’ll make it work! For other Etsy sellers, I used a fantastic free online service called to make this graphic for my necklace cards 🙂

DSCN3790I’d just like to point out these necklaces also make great friendship necklaces. Matching coffee takeout cups! If you’re ordering for yourself why not leave the name on the card and just put “Mine” 😉

Finally these little gifts are placed in a cellophane packet and popped inside a matching organza bag. A voila! You’ve just made someone smile!

SEO Help Part 2! Helping Fellow Etsians To Success!

Hi everyone – sorry to be posting so late! I’m actually feeling a bit rubbish today, I’m sure it’s probably a plague my children have brought back from school. Humph.

Once again I’ve posted on the UK seller networking group asking for your shops that you’d like some help with and once again I got over 30 responses – thank you! 🙂

The first three shops that I helped on last week’s post you can find here have kept in touch and I am happy to say that their items are appearing on the first page’s of etsy search for a lot of their keywords! They have told me that their organic views have gone up – Fiona from PersonalMunchkins even said hers has gone up by ten times as much! That’s fantastic news, I hope they continue to grow 🙂

I have a couple more tips that I’ve thought of in the last week that I’ll include in this post as well as the title and tag tweaking.

Weekend Roundup! – Stocking Up Advice, SEO Help Success and Gift Wrap On The Horizon!

Whew. It’s currently 8:15pm on a Sunday and allll I can think about is my bed. But no! We battle on!

I’m trying to be as active as I can with this blog so I’ve decided Sunday can be a little summary post of how I feel the week went and what’s up and coming next week!

Last weekend I was out in Wales having a break from Etsy and running a stall at a fun day. I came home to 53 orders. If I’m honest I had expected around 30 but 52?! Then it hit me. Month end. Payday. Duh! I’ve been catching up on these orders all week, missing the sunshine, vowing to never do anything ridiculous like have a weekend away ever again!

Luckily I’ve now started implementing a stock up plan that was suggested to me by a fellow Etsian. “Instead of making one…make two and put one aside.” I have one of those shops where I mass produce the same item. They’re small and quick to make so making two doesn’t even double the creation time if you’re making them in one sitting. This is handy for many reasons such as:

  1. Going out or away and not wanting to put your shop on holiday settings. This way you know you have ready to ship items waiting for when you get home.
  2. Those times when your shipments of desperately needed materials take too long or just don’t turn up!
  3. Those customers who need it urgent. today. now.
  4. When you’re ill and don’t have it in you to make up orders. You sit there wondering if your plague will chase your order over seas and infect your poor unsuspecting customer. (Unlikely…but I wonder sometimes)
  5. If items are ready to ship it’s easy to pull someone else in to package them up and do the post office run for you. (If you’re reading this, younger brother, I’m thinking of you right now.)
  6. Stall Stock! If someone suddenly springs on you that there’s a local stall looking for a stallholder next weekend – you are ready!

You’d be surprised just how quickly your stock can grow making two instead of one.One of my projects next week is to get a proper inventory on the go so I know exactly what I’ve got and how many!

Other things that have happened this week:

  • A customer left me a negative review! First ever! It turns out the earrings had been damaged in the post. 😦 I sent her a message apologising and asked her to change her review as it didn’t reflect me as a seller or the item itself and that I would be more than happy to send a replacement or a refund out to her immediately. She was very kind and did change her review and I have sent out her replacement the same day. Remember to always message the seller first if you have a problem – almost all Etsy sellers would rather the chance to make it up to you than receive a bad review! ❤
  • I posted last night to help people with their SEO and 2 out of 3 of the people I helped have got back to me that it is working a treat! I can see their listings on the front pages of their main search terms now! One of them JosJemsJewellery even took on my advice about her photos – she’s retaken them and now her shop looks amazing! Take a look! It really makes me happy that people have benefited from the post!
  • I listed 9 new listings yesterday which I’m going to be talking about on tomorrow night’s blog post! This brings my total up to 116! Aiming for 200 by mid October!
  • I have ordered in the beginnings of what will be my gift wrap options for the shop! I’m really excited about this. I can’t wait to show you pictures when it all comes together. I’ve got 4 designs coming in and I’m ordering stickers from JensLittleT. Jen has been really helpful with the designs I’ve had in mind and I can’t wait to see what they look like when they arrive!

That’s my weekly wrap up! Next week I’m hoping to post new listings, roll out more SEO advice, show you guys how I take my photos and…well let’s see how much time I’ve got. My youngest is starting pre-school tomorrow *sob* but that will be handy when I have 3 hours a day all to myself and my shop! 😀

Hope you’ve all had a marvelous weekend, mine has been hectic but next weekend I have my daughter turning 3 and a Christening to go to…..Ah!!! I’d better start stocking up!

SEO Help! Helping Fellow Etsians To Success!

This is the first post of it’s kind that I’m writing for this blog! *nervous laugh*

I’m hoping to be able to dedicate time once a week to help my fellow etsians work on their SEO and learn how to get their shops seen! Earlier today I posted on a Facebook Group I’m an active part of: Etsy UK Sellers NETWORKING Group, I said that I was looking for shops that couldn’t get a handle on their Titles and Tags for their listings. I got over 30 responses!

It’s taken a while to go through them all but I’ve picked out a variety of shops and products to make examples of and hopefully explain what I’m doing along the way! 🙂

Let’s get started!

A little introduction!

My name is Jennifer and I am the (excitable) owner of Fairy Fountain Gift Shop!

About me:

I live in England on the Wirral which is near Liverpool. It’s a small peninsula with a lot of character. I live in the beautiful village of Port Sunlight. (even the name is pretty!) I live here with my two daughters, my boyfriend and two troublesome cats! I’m 25 years old, full of enthusiasm and I believe kindness makes the world go round.

Port Sunlight Village

About the Shop:

A little handmade jewellery and gifts store that oozes quirkiness and geeky references!

Fairy Fountain Gift Shop started out on eBay back in 2013, after a couple of thousand sales and extortionate fees leeching at my profits I decided to move away and try and sell directly through my Facebook page. With new rules and page reach problems that didn’t work out for me either. I moved to Etsy in March this year and I’m about to hit 800 sales less than six months later! Couldn’t be happier with this decision and I plan to make it as big as my dreams! 🙂

I also love to do stalls, Christmas markets and fun day shows! Another thing I love to do is charity events where I take my beads and make personalised bracelets with the children.

I’ve started this blog to help people who want to improve their Etsy stores, I’m lucky enough to be running a successful Etsy store that means I can afford to be a stay at home mum. I know there are many who would love to be achieving the same so if I can help in any small way – I will 🙂

It’s also a blog to update on any new listings or upcoming products, stall events etc if you are one of my lovely customers!

If I buy something awesome from another Etsy seller I’ll be sure to post a glowing review with plenty of pictures to tempt you!

I’m getting super busy with my shop – especially as we grow ever closer to Christmas. My hope is to be posting on a regular basis with set days I can help out individuals who need help with things like photos or SEO. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask and I’ll get back to you asap!

Jennifer xx
